Our Story

SerraNova is a unique business, it is a healthcare boutique.

SerraNova is run by Robert and Nicola, a husband and wife team from just near Cashel in Co. Tipperary. Between them they have over 40 years experience in specialised footwear, medical clothing and orthopaedic appliances.

“We recognised a need for people to deal with companies who cared, helping them to find the right products for their unique situation. Many of our clients have undergone cancer treatment or have a medical condition but they want to get on with their lives and they want solutions that work for them and allow them freedom.” This is very important to Nicola and her team who deal with the clients on a daily basis.

When trying to find a category for our business “healthcare boutique” is the one that seemed to fit best. We are a boutique business for medical garments, footwear and orthopaedic appliances. Boutique also means choice and that is the most important thing for us we like to offer our clients choice while working within their medical requirements.

Our relationship with medical practitioners is very important to us and we work together in the clients best interests. This has resulted in a fantastic referral network with consultants, GP’s, nursing staff, physiotherapists and occupational therapists.

Our original business was a footwear business which catered for ladies with feet in sizes 8.5 to 11. This was before the internet and sourcing shoes in these sizes was a nightmare. Slowly the business transformed into a source of solutions to footcare problems and developed a wholesale division as well.

In 2016 we started SerraNova as a more focused business to deal with compression garments and post mastectomy wear. We had entered a world which is largely dominated by multi-nationals who we found could not offer our flexibility and had different core values to us. Customer satisfaction is one of our core value.

Another positive indicator for us was the number of foreign companies who contacted us to stock their unique products, previously they had struggled to find an Irish partner who understood their business. This has allowed us to develop a fantastic choice of products and means we can offer choice and are not trying to force a client to buy a particular product. More importantly if a client doesn’t like a product they can tell us honestly and we won’t be insulted – instead we work with them to find a suitable solution.

Sell direct to the public: Many of our competitors especially in the medical sector only supply through pharmacies as they do not have a customer service model. We sell to the public directly as this gives us the opportunity to ensure you get the correct product and also removes a layer of cost for our clients.
