Life as a female entrepreneur

Life as a female entrepreneur

I often get asked what is like to lead the life as a female entrepreneur.  The healthcare industry is a male orientated world so the challenges of breaking the glass barriers is interesting and challenging.

I love what I do as I make a difference to other people at a challenging time of their life.  It is a privileged position as I am meeting people at a time when they are really vulnerable and it is important that we care and want to match the client to the products which will bring them benefit.

Along my journey I was fortunate to get onto the Going for Growth program, this is a program designed to support women who are serious about growing their businesses.

As part of their support they organise training and networking events and some time ago  I was at a presentation from a major retailer and the topic of the day was "getting stocked with high street retailers".

We had all been invited to bring along a few of our products - so I brought some arthritis gloves and footcare products.

As I sat there and looked around at other peoples luxury products - beautiful Chupi jewellery, Waters and Wild perfumes, Brooke and Shoals candles - our products appeared to be so unsexy!  Everything appeared glitzy and glamorous.   I think I came home depressed instead of inspired!

With the luxury of hindsight I can now realise that our products may not obviously tick the beautiful, luxury, goods boxes but for the people that need them - they tick all those boxes - they offer comfort, fashionable options.   Our products are really valuable for the people that require them, helping them to regain quality of life and start to live the life they want.

A second thing happened (part of the entrepreneurial territory is that you are always thinking), I started thinking about how we could improve the product ranges and make them more glamorous and I am delighted to say we have stayed focused on this and have really exciting innovations coming down the tracks.

While the presentation may not have sent me home jumping for joy, it did inspire and refocus what we are striving to achieve and what our clients are looking for.

By offering a multi-brand service driven healthcare garment business - we like to think of ourselves as a healthcare boutique.

Luxury compression garments and fashionable colours are now well established as part of our range and come under the name SerraNova - Italian for new evening. Enjoy all your new opportunities for life with SerraNova Healthcare Boutique.

We love to hear how you are getting on with your products, only by your feedback can we bring about further improvement.  Please share us on social media.

Life as a female entrepreneur is never boring.  Stay tuned to hear more about new and exciting projects in the pipeline.
